My husband and I were staying at a local hotel last night so we stopped in for dinner. I ordered a med rare bacon cheeseburger. It came out cooked perfectly and it was juicy and flavorful. The bacon on it had great flavor as well. My husband got the crab dip and said it was really good as well. Our server was friendly as well.

Good place for me and my buddies to grab some beers and good bar food. It served its purpose. Not smokey so that was a plus. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Its location is right off of rt 70 and the turnpike.

Standard bar food; plenty of beer - what more do you want in a local place. Had a steak special - pretty good. Also had a sandwich - it was good, the accompanying fries were just so-so. Service was good.

I was definitely was not impressed on the looks of this place. There are no windows, which makes for a darker atmosphere, so needless to say, I was skeptical. Typical bar type menu, good prices & lots to choose from. We also took advantage of jukebox, which made for fun dinner. I ordered the reuben & onion rings & it was hands down, the best I've ever ordered. The handful of times that I have been to TJ's I've always gotten the same thing. So, I pretty much love this place for their Reuben!

Buffalo chicken sandwich, burnt, no sauce, hard, couldn't even cut it with a knife. Co worker had a steak sandwich, burnt and chewy. Wait staff was friendly and offered to bring back a menu, I declined.

Checked this place out on a Saturday night after checking into a local motel while traveling from St. Louis, MO. to NYC. It has a typical sports bar vibe, lots of TV's and Steelers decor. We ordered food, and it was super good!! The menu was pretty decent - not just a few defrosted items. It had a lot to choose from, we got a few apps - being that it was almost midnight anyway, and we loved them all!! Beer was good, shots were better. The tender was super friendly even though we were OBVIOUS NY'ers and there was a Ranger/Penguin play-off game on. No complaints, not sure I'll ever get to New Stanton again, but if I do...I'll be here for some steak fingers...............and beer.

Their TANGY wing sauce is very good but don't order the wings 'crispy' - I've tried it about a dozen times and they just do not get it. The wings always come out pretty soft. Service is always great though!!!!

Woohoo! Take me on a road trip from Washington DC to Cincinnati for a family wedding, and then find the perfect place to unwind afterward on the way home. This was the place! Football on a Sunday night. Golf video game. Excellent bar menu. Friendly bar staff (that happened to be TP'ing a regulars car). Great tunes on the jukebox. TJ's was so much fun! Order the wings! So many options.

Here is my short review..... I have been here several times and have never been thrilled. The menu is large for a non-franchised sports bar, but the quality is average to below average. For those at staying at near by hotels, the restaurant is only worth visiting if you have a short walk and would rather not drive. If you look at the menu via their website, it must be pretty old, many items are $2 or more higher than the menu you order from when in person. The menu states there is a wide array of premium beers... this is grossly overstated. The beers are the standard beers with a few extras like Nevada or Sam Adams.... hardly a wide array of premium beers. They do have several pool tables if you're interested.

Making a trip back from Columbus to Philly, looked at places to get drinks and something to eat later on a Sunday night. Already had plans to stay in New Stanton, so decided to give TJ's a shot, since it was close to the hotel and it was a Sunday night just before 9 pm. My hopes weren't high. Coming into the parking lot, my hopes were lowered. That being said, glad I made the choice. First off, the bartender, only person working in the front, was friendly, efficient and entertaining (Yea Lauren!) Now to the food, had the sausage stuffed hot peppers. Really good flavor, nicely prepared and hot. I actually thought there could have been a little less sausage, perhaps serve three stuffed peppers opposed to two over stuffed, just to get more hot pepper flavor. After a while, although I wasn't terribly hungry, I ordered a burger with cheddar and jalepenos cooked very rare. Came out with nicely melted cheese, peppers on the side and cooked rare. Would have liked it just slightly rarer, but it was no where near medium rare. I was a little disappointed with the fries, although hot and tasty, I would have like to have seen fresh cut or even frozen solid fries opposed to extruded potato fries. All in, enjoyed my time there, the food and Lauren's entertainment.

Nice quiet place. Kind of a local feel, but definitely friendly to the travelers. I can account for the burgers here. Very pleased with portion and taste. Would come back for sure...

These are the steak fingers from T.J.'s restaurant & sports lounge. An entire steak, for only 8.50. They would have been 7.59, but I added the mushroom and onions for 1$ extra. Ordered medium, they were very slightly undercooked, none the less DELICIOUS! We also got the BBQ grilled shrimp, there were 10 nicely sized shrimp, 5 per skewer. They came PERFECTLY cooked! Not overdone at all. Note: the BBQ is house made! Next came the stuffed mushroom caps, which although the crab flavor came through, could have used a little more crab. However, we found them to be very yummy and would order them again. The very last dish was the chocolate strawberry cheesecake. Made in-house, NOT frozen, was probably some of best cheesecake I've ever had!!! We will be coming back here again.., and again, and again!

We stopped in here for dinner because of the reviews... what a mistake! Either tonight's (Thursday) cooks serve completely different food from every other night anyone's been here, or the local reviewers just have no basis for comparison. We'll start with the astonishingly awful house salad - see photo below for lettuce with brown and black edges. Cucumbers had been frozen at some point and had large grey spots all around the edges. Croutons, not made here, were acceptable and blue cheese dressing (ditto not made here) was pretty good. I made a huge mistake and ordered the chicken wings & ribs combo. The wings had been cooked in oil so old, you could smell it when the plate reached the table. Obviously frozen and then dumped straight into hot oil, when I tried to remove some of the grease by dabbing at one with a napkin, the paper was almost saturated - and the wing still full of grease! (See photos.) I bit into one, and it was so overcooked that even the inside chicken (not the outer skin) came away in shard-like pieces. They smelled rancid and tasted worse. On to the ribs. Have you ever had decent baby back ribs? Melt in your mouth, falling off the bone ribs? Don't eat here. The ribs were so dry and over-cooked that they could barely be cut apart with a knife. The "garnish" - a piece of lettuce and the top slice of a tomato - was pathetic. See photos. The sauces (I tried three) were garden-variety out of a bottle. As for the twice or thrice-cooked potato, the first one that came was actually cold in the center - not even room temperature. I never did get the replacement. My associate ordered the fried shrimp basket. I had no idea shrimp were so flat! All we could figure was that the cooks pounded them before dredging them in old bread crumbs. Again, rancid oil, and so overcooked that the coating crunched when you pressed it with a fork. The DJ and his music were so loud that conversation was literally impossible. (I downloaded three different decibel measuring apps - it was somewhere between 120-140 db. Way beyond safe.) We noticed one person on a laptop, IM'ing the other people at the table - that's how loud it was. I'm not sure this happens on a regular basis, but there were a lot of children there, too - not just from a local team of under-twelve girls (there were about 20 in that group), but other children as well - at least ten of them, with adults. Well and good, except for the noise factor - there were a couple of kids who looked as young as six or seven, and any child's hearing could easily be permanently damaged by this level of noise. We wound up going back to our hotel and eating microwaved frozen food from the hotel "pantry". It was miles better than what passed for food at T J Restaurant. One important note - our waitress was fabulous. Amazingly polite and friendly, even through the din, even though she had to shout to be heard, even though there was suddenly an entire girls' softball team and accompanying adults to deal with. I would say this easily ranked as one of the worst meals of my life.

I haven't been on a road trip for some time, but this past week we traveled from DC to Michigan and stopped in New Stanton, PA (about 30 miles from Pittsburgh) to spend the night. Looking for a place to watch the Giants-New England game we came across this great little local dive restaurant and sports bar called TJ's. This is the kind of place that you hope to find in an out-of-the-way place like New Stanton, PA--pretty much all locals and all the flavor of a blue collar dive bar. We walked into this perfectly square building with a "U' shaped bar and pool table on one side-- tables and chairs set up on the other. In the background we heard Toby Kieth and Willy Nelson belting out "I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again". The management describes this place as having a "warm, casual atmosphere (no ambiance) where each of our patrons may be comfortable and relaxed..."--trust me, they are dead on when they say "no ambiance". They have sports related beer posters tacked to the walls with the schedules for the Steelers and Penguins on several of them. The carpet on the floor looks like it was pulled out of a double wide. The pool table has a NASCAR light hanging over it, several video games and juke box add the finishing touches. They have four smaller TVs and one large 107" TV in the center of one wall. All of them tuned in to sporting events. "Beer To Go" coolers line the back wall for those who want to get drunk in back of the pick-up. With all of that said, let's talk food. The food was pretty good for a dive bar and restaurant. They offer an extensive menu with a wide range of choices for the serious dive bar drunk--included are burgers, grinders, pizza, BBQ, smoked ribs, wings, mozzarella sicks, grilled shrimp and so on. We had the Sicilian Grinder ($6.99) and the Philly Chicken Hoagie ($7.49), both were very good. While we didn't have them, they rave about their ribs--slow smoked, no boiling. The wings were huge--they looked like turkey wings and seemed to be a popular choice with the locals. Prices were reasonable with the sandwiches running $6.50-$7.50 and the dinners from $15.00-$17.50 (the dinners were made up of ribs and rib combination platters). During Penguin games Labats beer is $2.00 for a 16oz. cup. The people were "good 'ol boys and gals", friendly and, in general, just what you would expect to find in a place like this. If you're from the coast you will be entertained by many of them. The bartenders were nice and right on the service, even with a full bar. I enjoyed it and considering the type of place that TJ's is, I give it 4 stars. "...in the fetal position, with drool on my chin--broke down and smoked weed with Willie again."

Stopped in during a trip from Pittsburgh to Philly. Great food. Onion soup is excellent. Great service despite the fact that there was only one person working. Could have cooked the burger a little rarer but it was tasty. Seek this place out.
